Investment Opportunities

Potential Investors

Council seeks to be the conduit between potential investors and opportunities for investment within the Highlands region.

Through its Highlands Tasmania Brand and Economic Stimulus Strategy, Central Highlands Council has been actively identifying sectors ripe for investment and projects that are either, early stage or more advanced business plans, shovel-ready, or operating and geared for expansion or diversification.

In the case of agriculture and horticulture, many farming businesses have more than 150 years’ experience in developing, building and diversifying their operations and the proposed Southern Highlands Irrigation Scheme presents them with their biggest-ever catalyst for change in livestock, dairying and cropping.

Council aims to create an environment in the region in which downstream processing and value adding become primary targets for inward investment, especially in dairying; beef and lamb production; other meats (farmed venison, goat, wallaby); wool; Horticulture (especially fruit); Viticulture and Aquaculture.
