### Tasmanian Planning Scheme - Central Highlands

The Tasmanian Planning Scheme guides how land is used and developed across the Central Highlands. It provides a consistent set of planning rules that apply throughout Tasmania, while recognising the unique characteristics and needs of local communities.

The Scheme combines the State Planning Provisions (SPPs), which apply across Tasmania, with the Local Provisions Schedule (LPS), which contains local zoning maps, overlays and planning provisions specific to the Central Highlands. The Tasmanian Planning Scheme – Central Highlands came into effect on 8 February 2023, replacing the Central Highlands Interim Planning Scheme 2015.

If you are planning to build, develop, subdivide, change the use of land, or undertake works on your property, the Planning Scheme is an important **first step** in understanding what requirements may apply and whether a planning permit is needed.

You can view the Tasmanian Planning Scheme – Central Highlands on the Tasmanian Planning Commission website below.

### **PlanBuild Tasmania**

PlanBuild is an online platform developed by the Tasmanian Government that brings together planning and development information from across Tasmania. It provides an easy way to access property-specific planning information in one place.

Using PlanBuild, you can generate a property report that includes relevant zoning, overlays, planning codes, maps and other information that may affect a property.

To get started, click the link below and enter a property address to search and generate a report.

### **Works and Development at Heritage Places**

If your property is listed on the Tasmanian Heritage Register, you may need approval before undertaking building works, alterations or development. Heritage Tasmania provides information about when approval is required and how to apply.

Visit the Heritage Tasmania website below to learn more about works and development at heritage-listed places.
