Central Highlands Council and other Southern Councils have teamed up with Sustainable Living Tasmania’s ecohomeguide.com.au to create the Home Energy Bulk Buy for energy-efficient heat pumps, hot water services, insulation, LED lighting, solar panels and other products.
Buying in bulk brings down the cost per item so that you can purchase at a cheaper price than if you were buying on your own.
Products chosen for the Home Energy Bulk Buy will be based on quality, price and performance. The Home Energy Bulk Buy will also provide help to ensure your product is installed in a way that maximises the savings for you. For instance, positioning of both the inside heater unit and outside unit of a good quality heat pump is critical to meet customer needs and performance.
If you are interested in buying an energy efficient product you can register at ecohomeguide.com.au.
The first offer will be available in October 2017 for a limited period, with other offers to follow.
The offer groupings will include:
• heat pumps – product and installation
• insulation and LED lighting
• solar PV rooftop panels
• hot water systems – solar and heat pump hot water
• batteries for storing solar power.
Register your interest at ecohomeguide.com.au. You will be notified when new offers are being put together and will receive information on the benefits of particular models or installers.
The Home Energy Bulk Buy will be available at the same time as the Tasmanian Government’s three-year interest-free loans of up to $10,000 for individuals to install energy-efficient and renewable-energy equipment. For more information about the loans visit auroraenergy.com.au/teels.
The Southern Councils are working together on this project to help the community save money and reduce their greenhouse gas emissions by using less power or switching to cleaner solar power. Warm homes are also healthier homes, with New Zealand research showing that just insulating houses led to fewer visits to the GP and hospital for respiratory problems.
The ecohomeguide.com.au website provides information on popular energy efficient products as well as providing advice on different approaches.
POWER TO THE PEOPLE: solar panels can help bring down household and business power bills.
