Prominent icons of regional heritage and attractions are featured on the Highlands Tasmania Touring Route.
It is the first time a touring map has encompassed the entire Central Highlands and is the latest initiative in Council’s commitment to building a strong tourism industry with economic benefits spreading across the community.
Pictorial route maps, with a key to food, fuel and other services, will appear at prominent locations across the Highlands and in a new tourism brochure to be launched before the summer holiday season.
Council is also continuing to advertise in Travelways holiday magazine, which has widened its distribution into Queensland and South Australia, via Fairfax daily newspapers, in addition to circulation in Victoria, NSW and Tasmania.
Hydro Tasmania is planning to build an interpretation centre at Tarraleah, its third oldest power station site, to further enhance the Highlands Tasmania Touring Route.
It will include significant stories connected with the site, including migrant communities involved in its construction.
